The festival will be both in-person and virtual due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
What We Know:
- While the Covid-19 pandemic has proved difficult for many film festivals to navigate, American Black Film Festival (ABFF) has found a way through. The in-person festival will run from Nov. 3-7, and the virtual festival will run directly after on Nov. 8-14.
- The event was postponed last year during their regular date in March; because of the global pandemic, the event had to be moved to a virtual event in June. Last year, the ABFF’s 24th edition drew online viewers from more than 90 countries worldwide.
- The American Black Film Festival is known for promoting what’s hot in Black film and television, and our most significant work is to uplift new voices. This five-day event, usually held in Miami Beach, provides Black and Brown filmmakers a platform to tell their stories.
- Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber is also excited about the event. In a recent statement by the Mayor, he expressed that very excitement by saying, “We are honored that American Black Film Festival has once again chosen our great destination for this event, and confident the Royal Palm Hotel. Our city partners will safely host ABFF participants, audience members, talent, and workers to make sure this is another successful event for Miami Beach.”
- The festival will feature studio screenings, panel discussions, and networking events to celebrate Black entertainment and Black and Brown filmmakers for greater diversity.
Tickets for this event go on sale on March 23.
