A new documentary about Tina Turner is being released to the public.
What We Know:
- On March 27, 2021, HBO will be releasing Tina, a documentary showcasing a glimpse into the life of Superstar Tina Turner and her rise to fame. The announcement of the documentary was announced the same day that Turner was nominated to be in The Rock and Roll hall of fame class of 2021. This will be the 2nd time she has crossed paths with an induction into the hall. Her first induction was with her former spouse, Ike turner, in 1991.
- The documentary will be directed by Dan Lindsey and T.J Martin. It is speculated to include archived footage spanning over 60 years that captures moments of the superstar’s illustrious career. The work will also include interviews with Tina Turner, Oprah Winfrey, Angella Basset, and many more.
- This documentary isn’t the first to bring the entertainer’s life to the masses. The autobiography, “I, Tina,” set the structure for the 1993 film, What’s love got to do with it. Tina will not only mention her rise to fame but highlight her abusive relationship with Ike Turner and her comeback to the spotlight in the ’80s.

- Tina Turner climbed charts with her former partner and husband Ike with hits like, “A fool in love”, “River deep-Moutain high” and “Proud Mary”. After the divorce, Tina released her solo project, Private dancer which was recorded in two weeks. The album went on to become a commercial hit and included songs like, “What’s love got to do with it”, which was her first and only number one hit to be featured on the Billboard 100 charts.
