Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, Brad Parscale, was detained by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and hospitalized after he threatened to harm himself.
What We Know:
- The Fort Lauderdale Police Department received a 911 call Sunday evening from Brad Parscale’s wife stating he was armed, had access to other firearms inside their house, and was threatening to harm himself. Not long after, Parscale was detained, unharmed, and admitted into the Broward Health Medical Center. His detainment was captured on footage from a body cam and released to the public on Monday.
- Parscale was Trump’s former campaign manager and his current senior advisor. Parscale was replaced by former deputy campaign manager Bill Stepien. Although Parscale has yet to comment on the situation, Trump’s campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh gave a statement to ABC News. “Brad Parscale is a member of our family and we all love him,” Murtaugh said. “We are ready to support him and his family in any way possible.”
- Murtaugh then decided to blame Democrats for Parscale’s situation, despite there being no evidence pertaining to Democrats or other groups being involved in the incident. “The disgusting, personal attacks from Democrats and disgruntled RINOs have gone too far, and they should be ashamed of themselves for what they’ve done to this man and his family.”
- Parscale became Trump’s campaign manager in February 2018 and led the team alongside Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner. Before becoming a campaign manager, Parscale joined a super PAC called America First that supported Trump. He also worked with the Republican National Committee.
This pandemic has done a lot of damage to a lot of people’s minds and emotions but this does not indicate that the pandemic is the reasoning behind Parscale’s decision.
