On Wednesday, FBI agents executed a federal search warrant at Jake Paul’s home in Calabasas, California.
What We Know:
- The FBI started their raid of Paul’s mansion at 6 a.m. on Wednesday in connection with an ongoing investigation, according to FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller. A judge sealed the affidavit for the warrant and the FBI was not able to comment on the nature of the investigation. According to Paul’s attorney Richard Schonfeld, Paul was out-of-state when the raid occurred.
- Eimiller said that no arrests were made during the raid and none are planned. A SWAT team entered the property and confiscated several rifles from the mansion. Police in Scottsdale, Arizona said that they would dismiss misdemeanor charges against Paul “so that a federal criminal investigation can be completed.”
- Paul was charged with criminal trespassing and unlawful assembly for allegedly participating in a June protest in Scottsdale. Videos showed Paul amongst a crowd of people who broke into and looted a Scottsdale mall. Paul vehemently denies that he “engaged in any looting or vandalism.” Scottsdale police will reconsider filing charges “depending on the outcome of the federal investigation.”
- Arman Izadi, a social media personality and friend of Paul, confirmed on his Instagram story that his Las Vegas home was also raided. Izadi also faced misdemeanor charges alongside Paul for the mall looting incident until Scottsdale police dropped them. Izadi commented “I’m not going to get into any details other than to tell you the only thing they wanted to know about was Arizona.
- Paul, 23, is a YouTube celebrity. His channel has over 20 million subscribers and he posts a lot of stunt and prank content as well as videos about his personal life. Before his YouTube career, he gained fame on the Vine app and as a Disney Channel star.
Paul is no stranger to controversy as his neighbors have complained for years about his parties and stunts. Most recently, videos surfaced of Paul hosting a large party at his mansion in July with no one practicing social distancing or wearing masks. Calabasas Mayor Alicia Weintraub criticized Paul for throwing the party as coronavirus cases skyrocketed in California.
