Atlanta Native, Rapper Lil Marlo, has been Killed in Alleged Targeted Attack

Rapper Lil Marlo, born Rudolph Johnson, was fatally shot in Atlanta overnight.

What We Know:

  • Atlanta Police Department was called to the scene of an accident on I-285 near the Benjamin E. Mays Drive overpass around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, however, when they arrived they found Johnson shot in the vehicle.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Celebrities started pouring in their condolences earlier this morning including Lil Yachty who said they had just worked on a song together.

  • Complex received the following statement from the Atlanta Police Department:

On 7-11-2020, at around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a single vehicle accident on I-285 near the Benjamin E. Mays Drive overpass. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and found the 30-year-old driver deceased inside the vehicle. The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling on I-285 in the Southbound lanes when the driver was shot. The vehicle came to rest on the left side of the southbound lanes. Atlanta Police Homicide investigators responded to the scene and immediately began their investigation. At this time, investigators believe the victim was the intended target of the gunfire and they are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

  • Johnson signed with music group Quality Control in 2017, releasing hits including “1st N 3rd,” “F****em,” and “9 + Z6ne = 1’5.” He was also featured on “The Load” with Lil Baby and Gucci Mane and Quality Control’s collab albums Quality Control: Control The Streets Volume 1 and Control the Streets, Volume 2.

Lil Marlo is survived by his four children, Kemora, Rihanna, Marlo, and Rudy.
