The family of four found themselves trapped near a campsite in Washington state after they were suspected of being Antifa protesters, CNN reports.
What We Know:
- The husband and wife, their 16-year-old daughter, and the husband’s mother stopped in Forks, Washington to buy camping supplies after a seven hour drive on June 3rd.
- There, they were confronted by “seven or eight car loads of people” who continuously pressed the family of their affiliation with Antifa, Clallam County police stated.
- As they denied any relationship to the anti-fascist group, the family reported leaving the store and being followed by at least 4 vehicles – two of which seemed to be carrying passengers with semiautomatic rifles.
- When the family reached their destination, they began hearing gunshots and power saws. Concerned for their well-being, they packed up and left.
- As they drove down the road, they noticed trees had been cut down across the road, preventing their exit.
- Four high school students in the area called the police and used their chainsaw to remove the obstruction.
- “We are shocked and saddened by the encounter the family experienced on Wednesday,” said Lissy Andros, Executive Director of the Forks Chamber of Commerce. “This is an isolated incident and does not represent the people of Forks.”
The sheriff’s office is currently seeking information on the vehicles that followed the family’s bus.
