What We Know:
- British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was being given oxygen as he remained in intensive care Tuesday while battling the coronavirus. Though Johnson is being given oxygen treatments, he is not on a ventilator.
- The prime minister remained conscious and had not been diagnosed with pneumonia.
- London Mayor Sadiq Khan insisted Johnson was being treated by “some of the finest medical staff in the world, and he couldn’t be in safer hands”.
- Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the First Secretary of State and the most senior Cabinet minister, said Johnson had asked him to deputize for the leader where necessary.
US President Donald Trump responded to the news during a daily press conference. He advised that his administration had been in contact with Johnson’s doctors and wishes him well.
