Kanye West has teamed up with a Chicago non-profit to help feed the elderly during the severity of the coronavirus pandemic.
What We Know:
- Kanye’s donation was made to We Women Empowered, a South Side organization owned by Josephine “Mother” Wade.
- The donation was set to help the organization’s goal of delivering three meals a day to residents and will help the organization expand and offer meals in even more areas.
- The non-profit is currently working in several neighborhoods including Chatham, Woodlawn, Washington Park, South Shore, Grand Crossing, Englewood, Grand Boulevard, Auburn Gresham and Avalon Park.
- “Today when I got that call, that Kanye West wanted to help the elderly in Chicago and he chose his hometown in the Southside, his old neighborhood, I was beyond words,” said Josephine.
- The food delivery service is currently being operated out of Josephine’s very own restaurant, Southern Cooking.
Not only did he contribute to his hometown, but Kanye also made a donation to the Dream Center in Los Angeles, a non-profit that’s providing meals to approximately 7,000 people a day.
