Rapper and Actor, Waka Flocka Flame, has been an online target after sharing that he believes the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic is fake news.
What We Know:
- The rapper was asked about his thoughts on the outbreak during an interview with his wife Tammy Rivera on Los Angeles’ REAL 92.3.
- Completely disregarding the seriousness of the new and viral coronavirus pandemic, Waka stated that he had his doubts about it. “It’s fake. Minorities can’t catch it, we straight,” he said.
- However, Waka has no concrete evidence to support his claim.
- When the popular radio personality, J Cruz commented against Waka’s claim, the rapper challenged him. “Name one,” he said. “We all descended from the same person.”
- Rivera attempted to take the attention off of her husband after his commentary. She commented that she didn’t like the term “minority” because she doesn’t feel like people of color are the minority.
- In addition, an Instagram post was uploaded by BallerAlert, where the rapper appeared to be denying he ever said it. “When did I say minority’s can’t catch the Coronavirus,” he wrote on his Instagram story. However, video footage of the interview very clearly shows him saying exactly that.
- Waka’s comments have been proven false. Actor Idris Elba and Utah Jazz players Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, have all confirmed testing positive for the potentially deadly disease.
There have been over 2,340 confirmed cases of the virus in the U.S., along with more than 51 deaths.
