2020 Grammys Will Include Nipsey Hussle Tribute

The 62nd annual Grammy Awards on Sunday will hold a tribute to the late L.A. rapper Nipsey Hussle. The tribute performance will feature Kirk Franklin, DJ Khaled, John Legend, Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch, and YG.

What We Know:

  • Hussle was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammys for his album Victory Lap. Just under two months later, he was shot dead at the age of 33.
  • The man responsible for Hussle’s death tried to get the charges dismissed last year. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge said he was not having it and ultimately disagreed on having both attempted murder charges dropped. The shooter’s trial will begin in February.
  • The Grammys’ executive producer, Ken Ehrlich, stated in a press release Tuesday that “An activist, entrepreneur, and rapper, Nipsey Hussle had a lasting impact on not just his community, but also the culture at large.”
