At a league meeting on Wednesday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the current state of Kaepernick’s possible return to the league.
What We Know:
- Regarding Kaepernick, Goodell stated that “We created that opportunity. It was a unique opportunity, a credible opportunity and he chose not to take it. I understand that. We’ve moved on.”
- Kaepernick was recently given the opportunity to have a special workout where NFL coaches could see his potential. He decided to cancel the workout after he found out he wouldn’t be allowed to bring his camera crew. He was also informed that he wouldn’t be able to sue the NFL if no team decided to pick him up, according to the Daily Wire.
- Kaepernick and his associates believed it was just going to be “a publicity stunt”. ESPN Senior Writer Howard Bryant stated “If Kaepernick wanted to play, here was his chance. Despite the events of the past three years, the NFL believed it could offer Kaepernick a legitimate workout based solely on football merits. It was an attitude that reflected the power and, some Kaepernick sources say, the arrogance of a $15 billion behemoth.”

Kaepernick declared to the cameras after his private workout. “We all know why I came out here today and showed it today in front of everybody. We have nothing to hide, so we’re waiting for the 32 owners, 32 teams, Roger Goodell, all of them to stop running. To stop running from the truth. To stop running from the people.”
