SeaWorld Yas Island, located in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, recently claimed a world record.
The major attraction was named the world’s largest indoor marine-life theme park by the Guinness World Records. The title comes just 11 months after the park opened in May 2023 and signifies another “largest” world record title-holder by the U.A.E.
General manager Thomas Kaferle said the SeaWorld Yas Island team is pleased with the Guinness designation.
“This prestigious achievement is a testament to our commitment to providing the best possible entertainment experience, coupled with an interactive educational aspect enabling guests to learn more about marine life in a fun and entertaining setting that engages all ages,” Kaferle said.
First In The Region
SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is the first marine life theme park in the U.A.E. and is a massive space. The total indoor attraction spans more than 1.9 million square feet across five stories.
Inside, there are more than 100 experiences involving animals that include both close-up encounters and various activities. It also has more than 30 rides and attractions, retail spaces for performances, and 17 places to eat.
The park is home to more than 150 types of marine life and over 15.3 million gallons of water that are spread across eight “immersive realms.”
Realms Around the World
According to SeaWorld’s website, the realms represent various oceans and species from the North Pole to more tropical destinations.
The realms include Abu Dhabi Ocean, One Ocean, MicroOcean, Endless Ocean, Tropical Ocean, Rocky Point, and Polar Ocean. Each realm has its own personality and attractions. For example, in Tropical Ocean, there is a flamingo habit, a dolphin exhibit, a tropical bird exhibit, a rollercoaster, and more.
In another realm, Endless Ocean, guests can expect five interactive experiences, like a thrill ride, a play area, and a performance space.
According to its website, the park is committed to maintaining the “highest standard of animal welfare,” according to a press release. The park utilizes best practices set by animal welfare organizations around the globe and is certified by Global Humane, the largest animal welfare certified in the world.
