Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back. After a decade of development, a series of false starts, new directors and scheduling conflicts this new trailer has proved that the new film is not only real but the stars haven’t lost a beat.
What We Know:
- Sony Picture released the first trailer for Bad Boys For Life back in September. In which Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return as dynamic cop duo Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett.
- In 1995 Smith and Lawrence starred in Bad Boys, these roles will go to catapult both Smith and Lawrence film career. The movie ended up grossing $141.4 million dollars on a $19 million dollar movie budget while the sequel didn’t disappoint Bad Boys II grossed $273.4 million dollars.
- The new trailer for Bad Boys For Life shows a more comedic dynamic between Smith and Lawrence with sleek action sequences rather then focusing on topping the last film in the franchise.
- One major difference in the film is its smaller scope and smaller position the reason behind this is because the original director Michael Bay didn’t return for the third film. This movie is directed by rising filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, relative newcomers.
- Bad Boys For Life gives insight into Smith and Lawrence’s characters’ lives. Although they are older, they are still considered to be top dogs and Lawrence’s character is looking to retire while Smith’s character is just as trigger happy as he was the first day on the job. The duo decide to do one last full-on investigation before going their separate ways.
- Another familiar face you will see is Joe Pantoliano returns as Captain Howard. You will also be introduced to some fresh faces in the franchise played by Alexander Ludwig (Vikings), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), and Charles Melton (Riverdale).
Although the theme of the film is one last hurray, it’s not seen that way. The audience won’t feel like they are saying goodbye to characters they knew and fell in love with years ago. It is instead a homecoming after a long hiatus and it is giving them the trilogy we all have been waiting a decade to see. With this new trailer release, it looks like it was worth the wait.
Bad Boys for Life opens Jan. 17.
