*”Real Time” host Bill Maher is urging Democratic candidates to refrain from “pandering” to Black and Latino voters as a campaign strategy to avoid potentially losing the presidential election to Donald Trump.
“So let my people, the Irish, lead the way because again the Irish think, ‘I don’t give a s***.’ But I do give a s*** about who wins the next election. And outdated racial pandering is one reason Democrats lose elections,” Maher said on his popular HBO show during the “New Rules” segment, Washington Examiner reports.
“It’s not working for them or for us. Democrats are hemorrhaging the very voters they think they’re pandering to,” Maher added.
A recent USA Today poll shows that 63% of black voters support Biden, despite historical trends suggesting a larger majority for his party. In Arizona and Nevada, Biden and Trump are nearly deadlocked among Latinos, according to a poll from the American Principles Project.
As Maher highlighted, however, there is a growing trend of people identifying as multiracial.
“Far-left liberals are living in an old paradigm. Americans don’t fit into neat little boxes anymore,” Maher said. “In America now, you’re allowed to be many things all at once, and that’s a good thing, even when it’s really stupid.”
