*Dr. Dre was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday (March 19).
Dre’s hip-hop pals, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Eminem, were in attendance as the hip-hop mogul officially received the 2,775th star.
“Growing up in Compton, I never imagined that I would one day be represented here among some of my childhood heroes,” Dre said at the star-studded event, Billboard reports.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to make a living doing exactly what I love to do. How about that? Isn’t that the dream?” Dre asked the crowd. “Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of finding and nurturing new talent as well as pushing the boundaries in hip-hop both in content and substance.”
Dr. Dre’s star will live next to Snoop’s in front of Jimmy Kimmel’s studio on Hollywood Blvd.
“I’m most proud of elevating the sound and clarity of how we experience hip-hop. Getting that thing right is one of my greatest achievements,” Dre said at the event on Tuesday.
“I love that this honor is unique to Los Angeles and brings fans from all over the world to connect with their favorite artists. I’ll be here forever,” he added.
“Dr. Dre’s contributions to the music industry are undeniable and have left an indelible mark on popular culture,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in a statement.
“As a producer, rapper, and entrepreneur, Dr. Dre has continuously pushed boundaries and set new standards for excellence. It is with great pride that we honor his incredible career and extraordinary impact by awarding him a star on the Walk of Fame,” the statement continued.
Martinez added, “Dr. Dre’s star will serve as a lasting symbol of his immense talent and enduring legacy in the world of music.” Dre’s star will live in front of Jimmy Kimmel’s studio on Hollywood Blvd.
