*In a new interview, Dr. Dre called Eminem the “best emcee ever.”
“I think he’s the best emcee ever,” Dre shared during a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Life of Mine With James Corden, Complex reports. “Point blank, period. Of course, there are going to be arguments about that because he’s a white guy. I don’t think anyone that’s rapping can touch Eminem on that microphone.”
Dre went on to describe his initial studio session with Eminem.
“I’m not sure if anybody knows this, but I think the first four albums was just me and him and his writing and his delivery and his imagination is off the charts and I don’t think anyone would disagree with that,” Dre explained.
He added, “I was playing with the MPC and I hit play on it and he just went, ‘Hi, my name is.’ It happened that fast. No bullshit, and then we went from there and that was the beginning of this relationship.”

Elsewhere in the interview, we reported earlier that Dre admitted to disregarding the signs of a brain aneurysm that nearly took his life in 2021.
The hip-hop icon told Cordon that he didn’t know he had high blood pressure and suffered three strokes after a brain aneurysm three years ago.
“It’s just something that you can’t control that just happens and during those two weeks,” Dre said to Corden, per The Hollywood Reporter. “I had three strokes.”
Dre also recalled the day he experienced the aneurysm.
“I got up and I went on about my day, and I thought that I could just lay down and take a nap,” Dre said. “My son had a female friend that was there and was like, ‘No, we need to take you to the hospital.’”
He was taken to Cedars Sinai Hospital and “ended up in the ICU,” he told Corden.
“I’m in and out of consciousness, and I ended up in the ICU,” he said to Corden. “I was there for two weeks. I’m hearing the doctors coming in and saying, ‘You don’t know how lucky you are.’”
Currently, Dre prioritizes his health by maintaining a regular exercise routine and
“High blood pressure in Black men, that’s just what it is, they call it the silent killer. You just have no idea.”
