*Sinbad made his first public appearance last week after a stroke in 2020.
The comedian and actor joined his “A Different World” co-stars for the HBCU College Tour event on Feb. 29 at Morehouse College in Atlanta. Sinbad appeared virtually and thanked fans for their support during his health crisis four years ago.
“Thank you to everybody who’s been praying for me and saying good things and supporting me during this time in my life. It means a lot to me,” Sinbad said in an Instagram video he shared on Monday.
We reported earlier that the cast of “A Different World” has reunited for a 10-city HBCU tour to celebrate the show’s 35th anniversary. “A Different World” is a spin-off from “The Cosby Show” and ran on NBC for six seasons, from 1987 to 1993. The series centered on Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet) and her fellow students at a fictional HBCU called Hillman College.
According to PEOPLE, the cast confirmed to appear on the HBCU tour are Darryl M. Bell, Charnele Brown, Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Dawnn Lewis, Cree Summer, Glynn Turman, and Sinbad.

“Our mission goes beyond nostalgia. We’re on a quest to raise awareness and enrollment for HBCUs nationwide,” Bell told PEOPLE. “By leveraging the star power and cultural impact of A Different World, we aim to inspire a new generation to choose HBCUs as their academic homes. We’re not just telling a story; we’re rewriting the narrative.”
During his Zoom appearance, Sinbad said, “It’s wild that the kids even know who I am. That’s beautiful.”
Sinbad said it was “cool” that the cast is “going to Atlanta, going to Morehouse College and on campuses and getting a chance to be on Zoom and say something to the kids.”
In the video, Sinbad teased, “Expect to see more of me soon,” he said, adding, “You better believe it. Miracles happen.”
In the clip’s caption on social media, he wrote, “Thank you for your prayers, support, and positive thoughts. They’ve carried me this far and will see me through to the finish line. It really is a different world out here!”
