Showtime Documentary Films has officially greenlit a Tekashi 6ix9ine limited docuseries.
What We Know:
- Showtime Documentary Films is set to release Supervillain, a limited docuseries following the life of hip-hop artist Tekashi 6ix9ine.
- It is inspired by journalist Stephen Witt’s Rolling Stone feature “Tekashi 6ix9ine: The Rise and Fall of a Hip Hop Supervillain“. The docuseries is a co-production between Imagine Documentaries and Rolling Stone Lightbox. The three-part series will discuss how Daniel Hernandez exploded into Tekashi 6ix9ine.
- It will discuss how he quickly gained fans, gained enemies, and how his consequences proved to be detrimental. It will provide viewers with an unfiltered look into Tekashi 6ix9ine’s epic rise and fall from those closest to him.
- Vinnie Malhotra Executive Vice President of Nonfiction Programming at Showtime Networks said “The bizarre and complicated rise of Tekashi 6six9ine is a story of our times. Beyond becoming one of the most notorious hip hop artists of this generation, his story speaks volumes of the impact of social media and manufactured celebrity in our society. There is currently no word on a release date, however it is likely that Showtime is waiting for Tekashi’s final sentencing. He is currently in prison on federal racketeering and weapons charges and is awaiting release.
