Winter is approaching fast as the new year gets closer and closer. Many travelers are looking for places to visit to escape the cold. However, not everyone looking for tropical vibes wants to travel internationally. 

Instead of heading overseas, some travelers are considering visiting tropical destinations in the US. Typically, domestic flights are cheaper and it alleviates the hassle of international travel planning. But even though they’re not leaving the country, travelers are still finding the warmth, relaxation, and palm trees they need to beat the wintertime blues. Here are five tropical US destinations to experience while traveling this winter.

Fort Lauderdale, FL

While many people choose Miami as a winter getaway, Fort Lauderdale is another option with all the same tropical vibes. The city isn’t as big when it comes to nightlife culture and partying. However, the palm trees, warm rain showers, and beaches are still plentiful. There’s also a ton of things to do in Fort Lauderdale for tourists. Once you’ve soaked in the rays on the beach, explore the city’s canal system or visit one of the wildlife preserves. 

St. Croix

Located in the Virgin Islands, St. Croix is known for its illustrious beach views. It’s a hot tourist destination all year long and there’s a plethora of resorts, casinos, and attractions to enjoy. In the winter, the island has a tropical beauty any traveler would love to be surrounded by. St. Croix has a rich history and travelers don’t need a passport to explore the tropical US destination. 

Guam

Like St. Croix, American travelers do not need a passport to visit Guam. The tropical paradise is home to an array of exotic animals, coral reefs, and natural landscapes. Florida Keys

However, if you’re able to visit during the winter you’ll have an incredible experience in the islands. Getting to Samoa can be difficult because there are limited flights in and out.
