Demario Davis Overturns “Man of God” Fine

It looks as though the “Man Of God” has turned his fine into a win-win situation.

What We Know:

  • Demario Davis was recently fined a little over $7,000 for wearing a headband with a “personal choice” message across the front which the NFL prohibits.
  • He chose to start selling “Man of God” and “Woman of God” headbands with 100 percent of the proceeds being donated to St. Dominic Hospital in his hometown of Mississippi. The headbands were $25 each and have helped raised more than $30,000 for the hospital.
  • According to the hospital, Davis’ mother worked there while he starred in high school, before he went on to become a third-round pick by the New York Jets in 2012.
  • Davis took to Twitter to let fans know that he won an appeal against the NFL.

WOWWW look at this!! So my agent just told me that I won my appeal and won’t have to pay the headband fine!! Then I see that St. Louis King France came together today to support the movement! Won’t he do it! Look at all these beautiful children of God! Always glory above so I’m taking every penny of that original $7,017 fine and donating it to @stdomhospital anyways.   • Davis also picked up support from a New Orleans-area Catholic school, where kids showed off their own versions of the headband.
  • “We’ve been able to turn it into a positive and use it to raise funds for a hospital that’s trying to rebuild this emergency room. And just to have the support of the community — and pretty much nationwide — it’s been amazing,” Davis said per ESPN.

On Twitter, Davis wrote that his experience has shown how “obstacles are meant to be conquered”. “I’m truly blessed as anybody,” he added.
