A Tennessee mother was arrested after being seen on video displaying abusive behavior towards her baby.
What We Know:
- Tybresha Sexton, 24, engaged in a Facebook live stream where she was visibly smoking what appears to be marijuana and blowing the smoke into the direction of her daughter’s face. She then proceeded to carelessly twirl the 1-month-old baby in the air with one hand repeatedly before tossing her onto a couch pillow. The entire Facebook live video lasted approximately 30 minutes.
- Police arrested and charged Sexton with child abuse after receiving multiple reports from Facebook viewers. They also charged her with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. They also reported that at the time of arrest, Sexton had a “heavy odor of alcohol on her breath and made irrational statements”. Sexton allegedly told the police “I didn’t want that fu—kin’ baby, anyway”.
- The video has since went viral on multiple social media platforms where Sexton has received plenty of backlash for her parenting skills.
So sad. So much anger, hatred & irresponsibility-mature body, immature brain & result is so destructive. Glad the baby was rescued.

- Sexton is scheduled to follow up with her charges at a later court date. According to the police report, Sexton is being held on a $100,000 bond. In addition, they temporarily placed her daughter in the care of her mother.
We’re glad that caring people intervened to report the abuse they witnessed on Facebook. The child’s safety is what’s most important in this unfortunate situation.
