The next Democratic debate, hosted by The New York Times and CNN is set to happen on October 15, in Westerville, Ohio on the campus of Otterbein University and will include 12 qualified candidates.
What We Know:
- The list of 12 was announced by the Democratic National Committee on Wednesday for the fourth presidential primary debate. The New York Times reports that this is the largest number of candidates to ever be onstage at once.
- The candidates include Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, Businessman Tom Steyer, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, California Sen. Kamala Harris, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Former Vice President Joe Biden, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Entrepreneur Andrew Yang, Former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro.
- Candidates had until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday to meet the Democratic National Committee’s requirements: amassing 130,000 individual donors and receiving 2 percent support in at least four qualifying polls.
- Five candidates, so far, have qualified for the November debate; the date and location of which have not been announced.
