*“Doctor Who” returns in November with three special episodes as part of the 60th anniversary.

David Tennant is taking off in the TARDIS once again as the Fourteenth Doctor, with Ncuti Gatwa’s first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor set to air this fall.

As we reported previously, per EW, Tennant described his return as “joyous.”

“[It was] an unexpected treat to get to revisit something that had been such a lovely wonderful experience fifteen years ago,” Tennant told EW. “There’s some precedent for ex-Doctors showing up for, like, guest appearances, but to get to have another proper runaround in an albeit slightly different long coat was a joy I never really imagined. I just hope I look as fast as I did in the early 2000s.”

The new trailer features Neil Patrick-Harris playing “The Toymaker,” an enemy last seen in 1966.

According to BBC.com, showrunner Russell T Davies said the tale “is just the start, as the fever starts to burn. We’re heading for a November full of Doctor Who surprises, for fans and new viewers alike. Stay alert!”

Earlier this year it was announced that the long-running British sci-fi show is set to make history by casting a Black actor (Gatwa) to play the iconic character for the first time over several episodes.

Gatwa will take over the journey from Jodie Whittaker, the first female Doctor Who, who departed the show last October when fans saw her rejuvenate into Tennant’s Doctor.

“Doctor Who” will premiere exclusively on the BBC for the UK and Ireland. Disney+ will be the exclusive home for new seasons in the U.S.
