Grammy-award winning actor and dancehall artist Louie Rankin has died.
What We Know:
- On Monday, September 30, Rankin died in a car crash. The day before, Rankin had posted on his Instagram that he was in Toronto, Canada, filming a new movie.

- Rankins’ executive assistant/girlfriend, Jewlz Sykes, confirmed his death after posting a slideshow of them together with their children.

- Rankin is most famously known for his role as “Ox” in the 1998 film, Belly, with co-stars/rappers Nas and DMX. He also played Teddy Bruckshut in the 2002 film, Shottas. After filming Belly, Rankin and Nas remained friends and in 2016, the pair was featured on a DJ Khaled produced track, entitled, “Nas Album Done”.
- Rankin also played the role of “Choppa” in the 2014 film, We Run the Streets. Over the weekend, the late 46-year-old also announced that he was working on a new album.
- In 1992, Rankin released his debut album, Showdown, which featured his hit single, “Typewriter” and other hits “The Muscle” and “Monster Move”. He won a Grammy off of that album and the following year, he released his sophomore album entitled, Lethal Weapon.
