*An insider claims Jeannie Mai “wants her family unit back” together after her husband, rapper Jeezy, filed for divorce last week.
“The truth is Jeannie wants her marriage to work, and wants her family to be one solid unit,” a source tells Page Six. “She is devastated that Jeezy filed for divorce.”
As we reported … Jeezy and “The Real” host are calling it quits after two-and-a-half years of marriage.
According to People, the hip-hop star, 45, filed for divorce from Jeannie Mai, 44, last week in Atlanta, Georgia. The filing states that the former couple are “currently living in a bona fide state of separation,” and that their marriage is “irretrievably broken.”
The couple had a prenuptial agreement in place, People reports. Jeezy wants to share joint legal custody of their daughter.
The estranged couple tied the knot in March 2021 and welcomed their daughter Monaco in January 2022.
Jeannie Mai gushed about married life in a 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight, saying it felt “1,000 percent different” than dating.
Meanwhile, the source tells Page Six: “Even though Jeezy has filed, Jeannie is holding out hope that he would be willing to sit down and works things [out]. She is hoping for a resolution and wants to remain as a united family unit.”
An insider tells ET that Jeezy and Jeannie’s opinions differed when it came to “certain family values and expectations.”
“They had different views, and each felt like their needs weren’t being completely met,” the source told ET.
According to others, Jeezy filed for divorce due to his wife’s anger issues.
“I didn’t notice that I had a hot temper until I got with Jeezy,” Jeannie said in a 2021 episode of the “Lovers and Friends” podcast, according to SandraRose.com.
