*Attorney Antonio Moore uses financial data to break down the economics of modern America in the context of millennial dating. He also weaves in critiques of the recent statements made by Tia Mowry and Tyler Perry on dating during these hard economic times.
Tyler Perry’s comments were that it’s okay if a woman pays the mortgage and her mate pays the light bill.
Mowry went on a rant about the difficulties of dating after divorce saying she expects her experiences to get worse with time.
Moore takes Mowry and Perry to task looking at it through a hard economic lens. Moore also asks if should we be listening to either of the two celebrities on the topic of dating.
As MensJournal notes: The subject of dating below your income level is a controversial one. Studies have shown many women are hesitant to date men who earn less than them or to be their household’s primary breadwinner. A 2016 poll of 3,000 single people across the country found that 22 percent of women wouldn’t consider dating a person who makes less money than them. That was compared with just 4 percent of men, and 11 percent of singles overall. 69 percent of women likewise said they were uncomfortable being the primary source of income and paying all of the bills, compared to 46 percent of men.
So, with what Tia Mowry and Tyler Perry have to say about relationships and money, what do you think about dating today? Is inflation being at a 40-year high making it too costly to connect?
