Two Black Models Found Dead in L.A. Apartments | Video

*Los Angeles Police are searching for a suspect in the death of an aspiring model and real estate agent found in her Los Angeles apartment on Tuesday.

As reported by KTLA.com, the body of Maleesa Mooney, 31, was found inside her unit at Skye at Bunker Hill luxury apartments on the 200 block of South Figueroa Street. Police are investigating to determine if there’s any connection between her death and that of model Nichole Coats, 32, who was also found dead inside her LA apartment.

“This is senseless and I want some answers because my daughter is gone,” said Coats’ mother, Sharon, in an interview with reporters, according to Love B. Scott. “And it’s not fair. I want everybody to find out who did this to her. She shouldn’t be gone.”

“We need to know what happened,” said May Stevens, Nikki’s aunt.

When Nikki last spoke with friends, she told them she was planning to go out on a date on Sept. 8. When she didn’t respond to calls or texts in the following days, her family visited her apartment complex on Eighth & Grand and made a grisly discover on Sept. 10.

“I couldn’t recognize her,” Stevens recalled of the bloody scene. “I believe it was murder, I really do. One of her legs was up in the air in a kicking position. That’s not somebody who just laid in their bed and died.”

According to Sharon, her daughter had no enemies.

“I don’t know who she went out with or what transpired there,” Sharon said. “I have no idea but I’m going to find out. So if you’re out there, you’re going to get caught. You’re messing with the wrong person.”

Nikki is the second model this month found dead in their apartment in downtown L.A.

On Sept. 12, Mooney was found dead at her residence when police conducted a welfare check after she went missing in the days prior.

“When a week went by, we just knew something was off,” said Bailey Babb, Mooney’s cousin, KTLA reports. “Her messages weren’t delivering and we knew something was up because we all have a special relationship with Maleesa.”

The death of Mooney has reportedly been deemed a murder, while that of Nikki is being classified as a “suspicious” incident. Her cause of death remains under investigation.

Family and friends of both women are seeking justice.

“I feel that there’s a predator loose,” Stevens said.

Nikki’s family launched a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses.
