*Former NFL RB Warrick Dunn spent four years with the Buccaneers before signing with the Atlanta Falcons in 2004.
After his playing career, Dunn took a minority stake in the Falcons’ ownership for $9 million in 2009, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Forbes valued the team at $856 million at that time. Today, the Falcons is worth $4 billion, and Dunnas netted a 500% return on investment, The Daily Snark reported.
His other ventures include the Warrick Dunn Charities, which helps single parents purchase and furnish their homes, according to CNN.
Meanwhile, when Dunn was a teenager, his mother Betty Smothers was killed by two men, Kevan Brumfield and Henri Broadway, per Pro Football History.

“She’s always on my mind,” Dunn previously shared in an interview, months after her death. “I’m constantly reminded of her. All you’ve got to do is walk into my house and you see her picture. There’s not a day when I don’t look at her.”
The death of his mother forced Dunn to raise his young brothers and sisters.
“I never really had a childhood,” he said, Pro Football History reports. “I’ve never been able to go out and just go crazy, like most kids, because I grew up staying in the house a lot, babysitting.”
Years after his mother was slain, Dunn visited Brumfield in jail and he forgave the convicted murderer.
“If you didn’t do it, I don’t know why you are here today, but I know why I am here today,” Dunn told Brumfield that day. “I am here because I need to forgive somebody. I am here because it has been fourteen years and it’s time for me to move on. I was searching for answers. I’ve been going to counseling. I’ve started smiling. I’ve started laughing. I even had my first drink two years ago during a fun moment. It is time for me to forgive and move on.”
