*Dr. Dre and Interscope Records founder Jimmy Iovine have partnered with Atlanta Public Schools to launch an innovative learning center.

The Frederick Douglass High School will house the Iovine and Young Center, which was “designed to combine a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum with real-world opportunities,” per Atlanta News First.

“We believe we’re going to give these kids an advantage, a different type of education,” Iovine said at the press conference on Tuesday, Aug. 28, according to Atlanta News First. “So, you all can sell these kids, go out there and say you want these kids. Because the modern job needs these kids. That’s why.”

Iovine introduced the program Tuesday with Atlanta producer Dallas Austin, but Dre was not present.

“Me and Dre think big. We think everybody in the world’s going to learn like this… well, maybe!” Iovine added, “We never thought everybody in the world would wear our headphones, but they did.”

Last year, Dre and Iovine opened a magnet high school in Los Angeles. Dr. Dre previously explained to the Los Angeles Times that he wants to reach “the inner-city kid, the younger me.” He added: “Here’s a place that you can go where there’s something that you can learn that you’re really interested in.”

“This is for kids who want to go out and start their own company or go work at a place… like Marvel, or Apple or companies like that,” Iovine added.

Dr. Dre said the type of individual who would benefit from the LA school “didn’t have an opportunity” and “had to scratch and figure out things on his own,” he explained. This person, he said, also had “the curiosity but didn’t have these type of opportunities, really smart kids — we want to touch and give them this open door and these opportunities to be able to show what they can do.”
