*First Lady Loretta Jones was attacked Sunday in the Sanctuary of the Gardena-based City of Refuge after morning service.
Jones, who is the wife of Bishop Noel Jones (brother of singer Grace Jones), was punched in the face and knocked unconscious by a random woman in an apparent unprovoked attack, LA Focus News reports.
According to one witness, the woman walked up to the first lady and cold-clocked her.
Security was able to detain the unnamed woman and as she was escorted out of the sanctuary, she shouted, “Yeah, I did it because she gave my daughter cancer.”
The first lady was apparently transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Her status remains unknown.

“The woman was a big lady too. It was crazy,” said an eyewitness to the incident, per LA Focus News.
“There was a whole crowd of people near the altar and I believe Bishop had gone to change his clothes and I couldn’t make out what the woman was hollering and yelling as she hit the first lady,” the witness continued. “Some of the members appeared to be shocked and then you saw this surge of people and people shouting ‘no, no, no’ as security then grabbed the woman and took her into custody.”
“This is a sad day for the church no matter the reason that this has allegedly happened. I pray her health and full recovery,” Trina McDonald posted on social media, per LA Focus News.
“As a First Lady and an Evangelist this makes my blood boil it sounds like a demonic attack and probably done out of envy and Jealousy…I hope she press charges”, wrote another woman, according to the outlet.
