*Former President Barack Obama shared a Spotify summer playlist on social media featuring a range of genres from SZA to Aretha Franklin to Ice Spice.
The indie rock group Boygenius is also included on the list, but group member Lucy Dacus is not pleased about it. She retweeted Obama’s playlist announcement and wrote “war criminal,” followed by frown emoji.
One Twitter user responded commented under her post, “You’re right. It was a crime to put you on that playlist, for you to complain and insult the President, with a lack of gratitude, showing off your white privilege.”
Dacus is presumably referring to Obama ordering 563 drone strikes during his presidency — “almost 10 times as many as his predecessor, George W Bush,” per The Fader.
Obama has not responded to the artist’s statement.
Like I do every year, here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer — a mix of old and new. Look forward to hearing what I’ve missed. pic.twitter.com/H2Do2iaD1p
