If you’re a brunch lover or just love food in general, you’ll find no shortage of places in San Francisco. Whether you’re in North Beach, SOMA, or The Mission, there are plenty of options at different price points.
As noted by Forbes, “What makes San Francisco a foodie destination is that the Bay Area has access to year-round fresh ingredients from both artisanal purveyors and local farms.”
Here are several places for a delicious brunch in San Francisco.
Cafe Mystique – The Castro
Check out this cozy restaurant in The Castro, one of San Francisco’s most colorful neighborhoods. Past guests praise the delicious food, great drinks, and fast service. Take your pick from American, Italian, and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, and enjoy your food in a casual environment. The outdoor terrace is dog-friendly as well, so feel free to bring your well-behaved, furry friend.
California Pizza Kitchen – SOMA
Yes, this is a chain, but you can’t go wrong with the selection of personal pizza pies. Whether you want the standard cheese pizza or something with a bunch of toppings, you’ll be satisfied. If you aren’t much of a pizza person, there’s pasta, salad, and the sesame ginger chicken dumplings are a great appetizer choice. If you’ve got a hankering for dessert, the butter cake is a standout. Pair it with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream for extra decadence. There’s also a full bar.
The Waterfront Restaurant – The Embarcadero
The Waterfront Restaurant is more of a lunch and dinner spot, but it’s still worth visiting for the views of the San Francisco Bay. Some of the decor recalls the 1800s when the building was first constructed, but there’s also a modern touch. The wood fire oven pizzas are delicious and, as you might expect, there’s a solid seafood selection. Try the Dungeness Crab with frisée, the seafood linguine, and the baked oysters.
Outerlands – Outer Sunset
Brunch is served at Outerlands from Friday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can eat in the main dining area, or out on the patio—both of which are on a first-come, first-served basis. Try the French toast, the bean and escarole soup, or the grilled cheese, which can be made with bacon, onions, and avocado. The scones and sourdough chocolate cake, pair nicely with hot tea or coffee.
The Boardroom – North Beach
This is not only one of the best bars in the neighborhood, it’s got some tasty food as well. There’s a variety of sandwiches and burgers, not to mention bacon-wrapped tater tots. As for drinks, the bartenders can make just about anything, from an Old Fashioned to a refreshing Aperol Spritz.
