Singapore Airlines (SIA) has once again been recognized as the best airline in the world at the 2023 Skytrax World Airline Awards, marking its fifth consecutive win. Over 20 million travelers from more than 100 different nationalities participated in rating over 325 different airlines for the Skytrax awards between September 2022 and May 2023. Edward Plaisted, the CEO of Skytrax, praised Singapore Airlines for their “fabulous achievement” in securing the title of World’s Best Airline for 2023.
In addition to winning the overall title, SIA also received accolades in several other categories. They were named the Best First Class Airline, Best First Class Comfort Amenities, and Best Airline in Asia at this year’s Skytrax awards.
Scoot, the budget airline under SIA, also performed very well, securing the second position in the category of the World’s Best Low-Cost Airlines and claiming the top spot for Best Long-Haul Low-Cost Airline.
The award was accepted by Goh Choon Phong, the Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Airlines, on behalf of the airline in Paris on June 20.
Goh credited the airline’s success to the dedication and perseverance of their staff during the pandemic. “This award is a testament to the indomitable spirit of our people, who worked tirelessly and made many sacrifices to ensure that SIA was ready for the recovery in air travel. That has allowed us to emerge stronger and fitter from the pandemic as a leading international airline,” he said.
