And the scary ordeal went down after the suspect reposted Obama’s address, which was first posted by former President Donald Trump.
Identified as 37-year-old Taylor Taranto from Seattle, Washington, the suspect was reportedly found carrying materials to create explosives, sending shockwaves through law enforcement.

The Secret Service first spotted Taranto within mere blocks of the Obamas’ home, setting off a tense chase as he attempted to evade capture. Swift action by the authorities prevented him from reaching the former first family’s residence. His van, parked nearby, revealed a chilling arsenal of multiple weapons and materials resembling a dangerous explosive device, though it had not yet been assembled.

Alarming details emerged as U.S. officials uncovered Taranto’s troubling history. Social media livestreams revealed disturbing threats made against a public figure, raising concerns about his intentions. Additionally, he was found to have an active warrant linked to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, leaving no doubt that he deliberately approached Obama’s neighborhood.
A senior law enforcement official revealed that Taranto had been in the D.C. area for some time, even camping out near the D.C. jail where other Jan. 6 defendants are held. His livestreams, which contained unsettling content, were posted while he roamed the region.

Just hours before his arrest near the residence of forever President Barack Obama, the J6 fugitive made a chilling online post, sharing an address for Obama, which was first shared by ex-President Donald Trump.
In a concerning turn of events earlier on Thursday, a Truth Social account using the same screen name as Taranto’s other social media accounts re-shared a post from Trump. The post allegedly contained the address of Obama’s home in Washington and made a note of its proximity to a mosque. Accompanied by the message, Taranto wrote: “Got them surrounded!”

Taranto, who was already wanted on charges related to the January 6 events, was apprehended in Obama’s Washington, D.C. neighborhood. In addition to being a fugitive, Taranto was found in possession of multiple firearms and materials used for creating a Molotov cocktail. The incident has sparked an investigation by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Thankfully, the incident concluded without injuries, and Taranto has been charged with being a fugitive from justice. The question of whether the Obamas were at home during this intense ordeal remains unanswered, leaving a city on edge and authorities on high alert.
