*Nicki Minaj wants to pay the college tuition of the 14-year-old Chicago boy who fatally shot the man that violently attacked his mother.
We reported previously that the incident occurred at Maxwell Street Express on June 18 when Carlishia Hood had a verbal altercation with an unhinged customer named Jeremy Brown, 32. The man threatened her and repeatedly punched her in the face. Brown’s girlfriend was on the scene and reportedly encouraged his violent behavior, according to multiple reports.
Hood was able to text her son during the verbal altercation, but by the time he entered Maxwell’s, Brown was physically assaulting his mother. That’s when the teenager shot Brown in the back.
As Brown fled the location, Hood’s son followed him and shot him once more — killing him. Hood and her son were initially charged with first-degree murder but Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s office dismissed the charges Tuesday, citing ‘emerging evidence’ — such as the viral video of Brown punching Hood three times before the shooting.
Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj reacted to the case and said she’s willing to help pay for Hood’s son to go to college, TMZ reports.
On Instagram, the hip-hop star wrote, “That 14-year-old boy that backed dat hammer out when that grown ass man was punching his mother in the face as if she were a MAN; is a true hero.”
She continued … “If he wants to go to college, I’d love to help. It’s what ANY son should’ve done for their MOTHER. She raised a dope kid & should be so proud. Also, God knew b4 she knew; that she’d be attacked that day & made sure they had protection on DECK.”
Nicki concluded with … “God is GOOD.”
In a post-jail news conference, Hood said she is suing the city and four arresting cops, New York Post reports. Hood’s attorney called the initial murder charge “an obvious rush to judgment.”
“You don’t have to be a lawyer to recognize that when a woman is being violently attacked by a man that she shouldn’t be arrested,” Hood’s lawyer, Brandon Brown, said. His client was initially held on a $3 million bond, per The Post.
“The complaint contains counts of malicious prosecution, false arrest and intentional infliction of emotional distress,” the attorney said. He did not reveal how much Hood is seeking, according to The Post.
