Egypt’s Interior Ministry recently announced the implementation of a new visa program for foreign visitors. The new program will allow foreigners to obtain a multiple-entry visa valid for five years. Visitors will be permitted to stay in Egypt for a maximum of 90 days per trip. However, those taking advantage of this opportunity will be subject to a fee of $700.
The ministry clarified that the fees for other visa types will remain unchanged. Recent reports from Al-Ahram indicate that Egypt has been relaxing visa requirements for tourists of various nationalities in an effort to stimulate its tourism industry.
In March, the government already began easing visa restrictions for tourists from China, Iran, India, Turkey, Morocco, Algeria, and Israel. This move was accompanied by initial plans for the introduction of the multi-entry visa program.
Egypt: A Popular Tourist Destination
Egypt is one of the most visited countries in Africa and has historically been a popular tourist destination. It attracts a significant number of visitors each year due to its rich history, cultural heritage, and iconic landmarks.
Popular sites include the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, and renowned archaeological sites such as Luxor and Abu Simbel. Egypt’s attractions, including the Nile River, Red Sea resorts, and vibrant cities like Cairo and Alexandria, contribute to its appeal.
New Visa Requirements For Sudan
Similarly, the Foreign Ministry disclosed the launch of a new visa entry system for Sudanese citizens seeking entry into Egypt. This development comes amid a significant increase in the number of people fleeing the ongoing conflict in the neighboring country. The ministry’s spokesperson, Abu Zeid, emphasized that these measures are not intended to hinder or limit the entry of Sudanese citizens. Instead, Egypt aims to establish an organized framework for entering the country.
According to data released by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Egypt witnessed a notable surge in tourism last year. With over 11.7 million visitors, the country saw a 66.2% increase compared to the previous year. The number of tourists is projected to grow by 28% this year, reaching 15 million.
