Delta Air Lines is set to offer a solution to travelers seeking to minimize jet lag on their European trips. Starting in early 2024, the airline will operate eastbound daytime flights from New York City to Paris. The daily flight will depart from JFK International Airport at 8:30 a.m., arriving at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport at 10 p.m. local time. The flight will be operated on a 238-seat Boeing 767-400ER. The aircraft offers various seating options including Delta One pods, Premium Select recliners, Comfort+ extra-legroom seats, and standard main cabin seats.
Daytime flights from the States to Europe are relatively uncommon. Transatlantic service traditionally runs overnight, with planes departing the U.S. in the evening and arriving in Europe the following morning. The introduction of eastbound red-eye flights allows airlines to streamline connections while enabling business travelers to work a full day in both cities. However, this often comes at the expense of a good night’s sleep, as the flight duration is typically only around six hours.
Delta’s new daytime flights aim to address these concerns, providing travelers with an alternative option. Passengers can stay awake during the roughly seven-hour journey and naturally fall asleep upon arrival in Paris. The flight’s timing will help sync travelers’ internal clocks with the local time at their destination, potentially reducing the impact of jet lag.
Making Transatlantic Travel More Convenient
Delta is also in the process of upgrading its international Wi-Fi provider. The airline aims to enhance connectivity and enable business travelers to stay connected during the flight.
Daytime flights are already popular between New York and London. However, Delta’s offering will be the only daytime flight between New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Paris. The shorter duration and limited time difference between New York and London make daytime flights to that city particularly attractive.
It’s worth noting that airline schedules can change, especially when announced so far in advance. Adjustments might occur, but Delta offers free change or full refund options in case of any changes.
Delta’s latest move marks a notable shift in transatlantic travel. Daytime flights present travelers with the opportunity to arrive in Europe well-rested and ready to take on their destination. With the airline’s commitment to enhancing the travel experience, passengers can enjoy a seamless journey between New York and Paris.
