*Billy Garland, Tupac’s biological father, believes his son’s murder was set up by the U.S. government.
Garland explained in an interview with Delray Richardson for The Art of Dialogue that Pac’s murder in 1996 was arranged by the feds. He also claims the iconic rapper “was being tailed by the government the night of his assassination.”
“He was being tailed by the government [at] Quad Studio—that’s a known fact,” Garland shared, Complex reports.
“I just know it looked like a setup to me. Somebody told this guy to stand there with the Death Row thing and it pursued to what we had, but I don’t think [Orlando Anderson] had anything to do with the death of my son. … Not at all.”
As Complex reports, Orlando Anderson’s uncle Duane “Keefe D” Davis claims he witnessed Anderson allegedly shoot and kill Tupac in Las Vegas in 1996.
Anderson was shot to death in Compton in 1998 following a gun battle that left two other men dead, MTV reported. He was 23.
Anderson was beaten by Pac and former Death Row Records boss Suge Knight in the lobby of MGM Grand on the night Shakur was killed.
Meanwhile, during Garland’s conversation with The Art of Dialogue, he recalled his reaction to first hearing Pac’s hit song “Dear Mama.”
“At first, I was upset,” Garland said, Complex reports. “Because I’m trying to see you. But then it hit me. For one, I ain’t dead and so you really didn’t know me. Because if you would have known me, you would have known that I wasn’t dead. So I knew there that someone had lied to him from that point. So later on when I found out that someone did lie to him, that song made perfectly good sense. I understood it totally.”
