*Fans of The Weeknd have mixed reactions to his graphic sex scene with Lily-Rose Depp in the new HBO limited series “The Idol.”
Sunday’s episode saw the singer, who now goes by his government name Abel Tesfaye, telling the actress’ character to “f–kin’ stretch that tiny little p—y” — and apparently some fans are appalled, Page Six reports.
“I will never see the weeknd the same after this #theidol,” tweeted one viewer, while another called The Weeknd “a pervert.”
“I really need Abel to get dragged for this nasty scene in The Idol,” commented another, according to Page Six.
Several others claim they have “lost respect” for the musician.
“I’m sorry I don’t care what you do but doing it on tv especially GRAPHICALLY is weird,” one fan posted.
As Page Six reports, “The Idol” has been described as a “rape fantasy.”
Co-created by Sam Levinson (HBO’s “Euphoria”), “The Idol” centers on doomed pop star Jocelyn (Depp) who suffers a nervous breakdown that derails her last tour, so she is “determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America. Her passions are reignited by Tedros (Tesfaye), a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. Will her romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or the deepest and darkest depths of her soul?” per the synopsis.
Per Page Six, the show has been blasted as “comically bad.”
Meanwhile, Depp, 24, praised her co-star during a breakdown of the first episode that aired after the series debut on June 4.
“I love Abel so much,” Depp said of The Weeknd. “He was able to melt into this role in a way that is really difficult for anybody to do.”
