*Former CNN anchor Don Lemon has been tapped to host Emil Wilbekin’s 7th annual Native Son Awards at Barry Diller’s IAC building in New York on June 16.
“For this year’s awards, we really wanted to shine a light on those who are using their platforms to bring visibility to all the beautiful ways in which Black, queer men show up in the world,” Wilbekin said in a statement, Page Six reports.
The gala aims to “the achievements of Black gay and queer men who are leaders in their respective industries.” As Page Six reports, Lemon was honored at the Native Son Awards during its first gala in 2016.
“Having Don host this year’s award feels like a full circle moment for Native Son,” Wilbekin told Page Six.

“He is one of the most visible Black gay men in media and his presence reinforces the importance and impact of our community,” Wilbekin said.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk has invited Lemon and MSNBC host Rachel Maddow to broadcast a primetime news show on Twitter, New York Post reports.
In a tweet, Musk said the anchors should follow former Fox News host Tucker Carlson to the social media platform, where they will have “full support” from his company.
The billionaire tech mogul claims Twitter is a “digital town square” for all.
“It’d be great to have @maddow, @donlemon & others on the left put their shows on this platform. No exclusivity or legal docs required,” Musk tweeted on June 8.
