*The documentary film “TLC Forever” recently premiered on Lifetime Television. The television special focused on remaining members Tionne “T Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes died in a car wreck in Honduras in 2002.
For fans of the songs No Scrubs and Waterfalls, TLC Forever was a trip down memory lane to some of the best music of the 1990s. CYInterview’s Chris Yandek and CYInterview sponsor Rob Gill spoke with the director of TLC Forever, Matt Kay.
Focusing on Chilli and T-Boz carrying on TLC’s legacy today, Matt Kay said this: “For them, all the ups and downs they had, the fame, the fortune, but then as you mentioned, some really tragic lows in their career and their lives and to have those experiences that really kind of shape their whole trajectory from career wise but also their personal lives, I think it’s kind of bonded them almost like family.”
Kay added: “And so, what I found having had the privilege of being able to spend so much time with them is that yeah, they are literally like sisters.”
Matt Kay continued by saying why people should watch TLC Forever: “I think what’s great is to be able to follow the story, and to follow them in the present day, and being able to see them as they are reflecting, but also kind of living these things out and trying to still do everything they did and they have big plans in the future from concerts to tours.”
