Keesha Sharp Recalls Almost Losing Out On ‘One Of The Biggest Gigs’ Of Her Life Because Of Fear Of Flying – Shadow and Act

Actress Keesha Sharp had such an intense fear of flying that she almost turned down a lucky acting break due to her years-long phobia.

While recently speaking with Page Six, Sharp opened up about her debilitating fear of flying.

The actress recalled her fear being so bad that she would turn down jobs that required her to get on an airplane.

“When I was afraid of flying, I would not accept jobs that made me have to fly,” she told Page Six. “If I could not take a train or drive I will not accept the job.”

She said her phobia, which began in college, “was paralyzing. If I did fly, which is really rare. I would walk on the plane and cry the whole time because I was walking to my death.”

Sharp added, “My husband [actor and singer-songwriter Bradford Sharp] would fly all over the world.” She would tell him, “‘I will never go,’ and he [would] say, ‘Keesha please’… He was going to Europe, and I would say I will go, but in my heart, I was like, ‘I’m not gonna go.’”

Sharp tapped into her faith to help overcome her fear.

Although she avoided flying at all costs, the “Why Did I Get Married” actress was put to the ultimate test when she received “one of the biggest gigs of my life.”

“I had to fly all over the world for that gig and I wouldn’t have been able to do,” she shared. “I just let go and let God.”

She continued, “I had that moment where I heard clearly heard this voice that said, ‘You don’t live by your faith, yet you are so good at telling other people advice, but you don’t live it.’”
