*Lupita Nyong’o is speaking out about rumors that she and Janelle Monáe once dated.
While Nyong’o did not confirm if the speculation was true, the dating rumors didn’t come as a surprise, she told Rolling Stone.
“She has magnetism that they were obviously picking up on,” Nyong’o said during a recent profile for RS, Hot New Hip Hop reports. “She is that enigmatic. People are curious about enigmatic people. I was not surprised. And I don’t mind being associated with her in any capacity.”
Nyong’o added, “Just because you’re a close friend of hers doesn’t mean you get to know everything about her. I think that’s what makes her interesting as an artist.”

According to Hot New Hip Hop, while at the Met Gala, Nyong’o recalled first meeting Monáe following her breakout role in 2013’s “12 Years A Slave.”
“This world is still extremely new to me and unbelievable. [Monáe] came up to me and just gave me the realest hug,” Nyong’o shared. “I think we may have swayed to the music. She was just like, ‘I’m so proud of you, and just thank you for being you.’ […] At some point, [Monáe] asked me for my phone, put her number in, and said, ‘Let’s stay in touch.’ She was like, ‘I really mean it. If you need anything, I’m here for you.’”
Meanwhile, Monáe is gearing up to release her new album, “The Age of Pleasure,” on June 9. She told Rolling Stone in a new profile that she feels much happier when her “titties are out.”
“I’m much happier when my titties are out and I can run around free,” Monáe said.
Monáe recently broke the internet with the release of an NSFW music video for her track “Lipstick Lover,” in which she appears topless.
As Complex reports, the songstress told fans that her “titties” will be “out for the next 15 years.”
