An employee makes a brave move as a member of a group of angry Popeyes customers pulls out a gun.
What We Know:
- On Monday, September 2nd around 8:45 pm at a Popeyes in Southern Houston, two Texas women, three men, and a baby entered the drive-thru in search of the new Popeyes chicken sandwich.
- After being told by an employee that they were sold out of the sandwich, the group proceeded to try and enter the Popeyes. One of the employees quickly locked the doors and the group was unable to enter the restaurant but not before one of the men pulled out a shotgun. The baby remained in the car during this ordeal.
- No shots were fired and no injuries were made as the group fled the scene.
- Houston Police Spokesman Larry Crowson released a statement saying “One of the males became enraged, pulled a pistol and threatened the employees of the store because they didn’t have a chicken sandwich.” According to the Houston Television station KTRK, the suspects left in a blue SUV and the police are currently going through surveillance video.
Although it is not sure exactly how many sandwich related crimes have been reported since its debut, there has definitely been an outrageous hype over this new fast food item.
Fried Chicken Frenzy!
A man offered $10 for my @PopeyesChicken sandwich. He didn’t want to wait in line. I waited 34 min to buy one for my son. Three customers said they drove to a few locations & they were sold out. I told the man “no thanks.” #popeyeschickensandwich #Popeyes pic.twitter.com/t3tnML2RAi— Shomari Stone (@shomaristone) August 22, 2019
