*Alicia Keys has released a re-imagined version of her hit single “If I Ain’t Got You” for the soundtrack of Netflix’s “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.”
The 15-time Grammy winner dons a Victorian dress in the video and performs with an orchestra made up of 74 women of color and led by South Africa’s first Black female conductor, Ofentse Pitse. As Urban Hollywood 411 reports, the Queen Charlotte global orchestra includes Rimon from The Netherlands, Amel Bent from France, Alicia Awa of Germany, Cherrie from Sweden, and Delara from Norway.
“I wanted to do it because the song is timeless,” Keys told Extra at the Los Angeles premiere of the series.
“I wanted to do it because the vision of doing a 76-piece orchestra of all women of color is, I’m going to possibly say a first, maybe I’m wrong, but I’m probably right,” she explained. “So to be able to do that with this song, in this moment, it felt very impactful, powerful, and it felt perfect.”
The six-episode limited series “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” hails from creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes. Per Urban Hollywood 411, the official description reads: “Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”
The prequel stars India Amarteifio (Line of Duty and Sex Education) as Young Queen Charlotte and Corey Mylchreest (The Sandman) plays Young King George.
“Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” premiered May 4 on Netflix.
