The new Bad Boys film has had a cast member replacement, with Tasha Smith now set to play the wife of Martin Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett, replacing Theresa Randle.
Variety reports that Bad Boys 4 will bring Smith on board to fill in for Randle, who has played the character of Marcus wife–also named Theresa–in all three Bad Boys movies. There’s no report on the reason for the replacement.
In 2022, it was rumored that the film was put on hold because of the infamous Oscars slap, but Sony Chairman Tony Rothman said such reports were false. We now see that Rothman was telling the truth; Smith and Lawrence posted a video to Instagram in January announcing the start of Bad Boys 4, teasing fans about the next chapter. Variety reports that at CinemaCon, Lawrence and Smith revealed to the audience that they were already four weeks into filming.
Bad Boys 4 is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and written by Chris Bremner. Smith will produce with Jerry Bruckheimer and Doug Belgrad. Lawrence will executive produce with Chad Oman, Barry Waldman, Mike Stenson, James Lassiter and Jon None.
