Dancing With The Stars is returning to its old stomping grounds.
After making a brief detour to Disney+ last year, the hit dance competition series is returning to its longtime home on ABC next season.
In 2022, the series decided to do a one-year experiment with Disney+ by airing live episodes of Season 31 on the platform. However, according to Vulture, Disney has decided to return the series to ABC to make it accessible to audiences wherever they are.
“It’s a major about-face from Disney, which just one year ago made the case that DWTS needed to be a streaming exclusive in order to convince its audience to sign up for D+ and to increase weekly usage of the platform,” the outlet reports. “The creative leads at various Disney business units are once again calling the shots on how content gets distributed, and those suits have spoken: DWTS belongs on ABC.”
Despite Dancing With The Stars returning to ABC, new episodes of the show will still be available to stream on-demand on Disney+ and next-day on Hulu.
Season 32 of DWTS will see Alfonso Ribeiro returning as co-host, with Julianne Hough set to join him in the ballroom. Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough are also set to once again serve as judges.
The new season of DWTS is currently expected to air this fall.
