Zipair is preparing to launch some of the cheapest long-haul flights between the U.S. and Japan. The airline is a subsidiary of Japan Airlines offering a new route between San Francisco and Tokyo. One-way ticket prices starting at just 10,000 Japanese yen, or $91, make it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers.
To obtain this ultra-low fare, however, the passenger must be six years old or younger. The ticket must also be purchased in Japan.
For passengers who are seven years old or older, one-way tickets start from 35,000 yen, or $325.
Five Flights A Week From San Francisco To Tokyo
Zipair will operate five flights a week between San Francisco and Tokyo, its third flight route across the Pacific. It currently operates flights between Tokyo and six cities — Los Angeles, San Jose, Honolulu, Bangkok, Seoul, and Singapore.
Flights between San Francisco and Tokyo are scheduled to begin operations on June 2, 2023.
Zipair is partnering with San Francisco International Airport to provide the new route. San Francisco International is one of the largest and busiest airports in the United States.
The airline’s president, Shingo Nishida, expressed his confidence that the new service would provide a valuable link for commercial and cultural exchange for their mutual customers.
ZipAir’s Mixed Reviews
Zipair, which launched commercial flights in October 2020, ranked sixth on Skytrax’s list of the world’s best long-haul, low-cost airlines last year. However, the airline has mixed reviews from passengers online, with an average rating of 3 out of 10 from 32 reviews on Skytrax’s customer reviews.
Some passengers have complained of delays and cancellations. Others have praised the airline for its smooth check-in process and excellent experience.
Despite the mixed reviews, Zipair’s ultra-low ticket prices are sure to attract a lot of attention. The airline’s low fares are perfect for budget-conscious travelers who are looking to save money without compromising on comfort.
