*Season two of Tyler Perry‘s “Zatima” on BET plus has fans buzzing over the explosive drama in the passionate love relationship between Zach, played by Devale Ellis, and his boo thang Fatima, played by Crystal Hayslett.
Now a new cast member joins the series tonight to add to the heat.
Actor Tony D. Head is Henry, Fatima’s step dad and he is getting all up in the mix. The former HBO Wire actor spills a little tea with iHeart radio personality and EURweb Spotlight host Jazmyn Summers.
“Henry is a very interesting character and when he comes on the scene, there’s going to be a lot of fireworks, especially with his wife Mona, who’s kind of quasi-gangster”, shares Tony.
“Henry is a retired lawyer judge, but still that same brother from the street, and you’re going to see him show both parts of that in the first couple of episodes,” Tony reveals.

Tony says that Henry tries to keep the relationship with Fatima and Zach together despite the fights and scandal.
“Henry really likes Zach. He reminds him of himself,” Tony spills to Jaz. “He looks at Zach as a straight-up dude and straight-up brother, who’s trying to take care of his business and loves his stepdaughter. Henry understands that real love can have serious beefing, but you can still love somebody. And Henry believes that Zach loves her to death so he is totally team Zach.”
As far as his relationship with Fatima there is maaad drama ahead, Tony teases.
Working with Tyler Perry is a unique experience Tony tells EURweb Spotlight.
“I really appreciate the opportunity he gave me in this series, because I’ve been reading for Tyler Perry projects for the last two years, and I’ve been very, very close on some. And then this one I sent the tape in and the next day I had a contract. Wow. There wasn’t any discussion or anything. It was just boom, here it is. I said, wow, is Tyler putting a lot of faith in me to do this? Every person that works for him, from the person who does the Covid test in the garage all the way up to the assistant director, every single person is professional, has a great attitude and treats you like a king. I can’t say enough about Tyler and what he’s doing including the philanthropic work that he does.”
It sounds like Tyler is straight G on set though.
“You may see Tyler joking in real life but when he’s on set he’s so focused that I didn’t want to say anything to him, Tony jokes. “He has people jumping. There’s not a whole lot of laughing and joking. It’s all working, all business. It’s remarkable. He writes and directs all these shows himself. Some actors in other films I’ve been in will say oh, that didn’t feel right, maybe we should get another take. Not on Tyler’s set. You better get it right. It’s a one-take thing.”
It’s been a tough journey for Tony as an actor after landing a recurring role on HBOs the Wire as head of Internal Affairs Inspector Reed.
“I had a daughter who was severely disabled and I ended up dropping out of acting altogether to get a full-time job and just focus on taking care of her for over 20-something years. And then about nine years ago, I came back to New York and I started from scratch after being out of the business for almost 25 years All the agents I knew were either retired or dead. And it’s been a struggle.”
Now Tony has had some wins. A new Starz series based on the New York Times bestseller called “Three Women” with Blair Underwood is on tap.
The story follows three women in three different parts of the country, delving into their sexuality and how it affects their lives.
The rumor is there are a lot of risque sex scenes in the series but Tony is staying mum except to say “It’s going to be hot. You just have to wait and see.”
He’s also featured in an upcoming horror film called “They Turned Us Into Killers”, and an independent thriller “The Thing with Feathers.”
