HBO has announced that House Of The Dragon has begun production on its highly-anticipated second season at Leavesden Studios in the United Kingdom.
The prequel series is a return to the world of Game of Thrones, adapting A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martins’s Fire & Blood, which tells the history of the Targaryen dynasty in Westeros.
George R.R. Martin serves as co-creator and executive producer, alongside Ryan Condal who also serves as showrunner. Executive producers also include Sara Hess, Alan Taylor, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Loni Peristere, and Vince Gerardis.
“House of the Dragon has returned. We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera,” said Condal in a statement. All your favorite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle. We can’t wait to share what we have in store.”
Confirmed stars set to return for the new season include Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Additional returning cast members include Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.
